Hello my fellow citizens, wish you all a Happy Republic Day. So today our nation is celebrating its 67th Republic Day reminding the day on which Constitution of India came into existence surpassing the Indian Act which was formed at the time of British Regime. I thought of sharing my views with regards to systems and actions prevalent in the nation.
I agree with Western dominance and advancement in Science, Astronomy, Maths etc in last few centuries, but there was a time the time of Rishis when our culture was so pioneer that we were much ahead from rest of the world. Zero was contributed to Maths by none other than us, Vedic Mathematic is capable of solving all mathematical computations, Aryabhatta dealt with algebra, trigonometry, fractions, quadratic equations, sums-of-power series, table of sines, approximation for pi way back in 500 AD, People of Harappan periods that is at the times of 3300 BCE had knowledge of medicine and dentistry, Ayurveda dealt with cure for most of the diseases, Yoga taught and spread physical and mental fitness, Sushruta considered as “founding father of surgery” lived around 600 BC, Charaka wrote about the concept of digestion, metabolism and immunity in his book Charaka Samhita, we were well versed with the concepts of Solar System, universe and even atoms, Buddha created a new realm for spirituality, Takshashila and Nalanda were premier universities at their time – the abode of knowledge enlightenment. The list is endless.
We had abundant resources availability and varied blend of cultures and knowledge source. So what went wrong with the much fast paced developed culture. Multiple attacks and invasions slowly started to deter the way in which we see things. British rule started to divide us and resulted in developing an inferiority complex within us. The struggles has reaped the fruits and we have surpassed all those hassles. Now we have started to lead the world from front in all domains. We can be proud of it since each one of us has a share in the pie.
Without doubt we are one of the strongly progressing economy but have we done justice to our ability? I hope we should have achieved much greater heights by this time, we should have been far ahead of the current systems. Why am I saying so? By end of World War II Japan has been crushed to the verge of extinction that too with multiple attacks by atom bombs. They rose like a Phoenix and now has a GDP of $4.843 trillion achieved by a population of .127 billion where as we create a GDP of $8.027 trillion with a population of 1.27 billion. Singapore an artificially created nation has per capita of $56,319 where as we have $1,688. Cant we have done better?
Whom should we blame for? Like I said before we have the right to take the share of pie and the root-cause is non other than us. Each one of us has a role in it. This slow paced growth has been fruits of the seed of Corruption, Laziness, Bureaucratic inefficiency, Selfishness, Cross border terrorism, Blame game and Cheap political tricks we have sowed. If each one of us take a pledge to behave with dignity to our fellow citizens would these issues have popped up, if any one of us restrain from taking or giving bribe corruption would have been ever possible, if we react to fellow beings the way in which we behave to our brother or sister could this be prevented, if we have opened our eyes and acted when ever there are any clues of attack will the terror strikes be ever possible, if we lend our hands in support to the needy have any one of our national resident would have felt hunger? Past is gone and there is no benefit on weeping over that is lost. But we can learn lessons from it and take it into shaping the future. So let us take a pledge on this auspicious day to curb Inefficiency, Poverty, Attack against Women, Corruption and Laziness. I am signing off for the moment, let us enjoy the independence we received by shedding the life and blood of our forefathers, let us live to the true spirit of their efforts. Jai Hind.
