The story of the film revolves around the life of Rhythm who is a housewife married to Gowtham. She is expecting a baby. She was married to another guy and in the marriage they had a son named Ajay. She lost him in a particular incident and that resulted in a divorce. In recent times also a child goes missing and the news gives some thoughts about her son and she is trying to correlate that to her missing baby. She tries to do some quest on the same and can retrieve her baby back. If so, what was the motive?
The acting was very pathetic, especially I couldn’t believe that an award winner like Keerthi Suresh has done this role. I heard in an interview that this was a role she has dreamt of and I have nothing to say. The output was very meager. The true performance of an actor is closely knit with the director. The cinematography was very good, especially in capturing the beauty of the place. I hope it was shot in Kodaikanal. The aerial shots during the titles were a good representation of the natural beauty. Music also did play a minor role; the song which was there in the movie was fine to hear.
The first half of the movie was very engaging, there were a lot of non practical things in the story telling but were successful in creating tension. But when it reached the second half the plot lost everything. The creators were confused on deciding where to take the movie to. I could feel that creators want to make this a women-centered movie, I don’t have any opinion against it. But that should not be at the lack of quality of the product. The protagonist being a pregnant woman and making her do things which are beyond normal human thinking and expecting it to be well received by the audience is the biggest blunder or failure of the project. The lady was trying to find a child, but being pregnant and without even considering her health and her child’s health the endeavors she takes is quite unacceptable and hard to digest as well. This is not the attitude of the mother (In the film the character says mother is not a role but an attitude). This is where the creator started their mistake and they made sure that mistakes were carried out till the end to make this product a bitter and worst one.
I cannot understand why Karthik Subbaraj who has created very peculiar and special films and was very well received by the audience, being associated with this project did not give any advice nor took action in correcting the script himself. Very strange. Now I have an opinion on the releases that have made out in OTT. The creators who was confident that they would not be able to mint money in theaters readily accepted the path of OTT release. Most of the movie releases I am seeing over OTT in recent days stamps that impression. It was a wise decision to sell it to an OTT platform. The money they would have got if gone for a theatrical release would be a disaster, it would not have survived one week life span. One small advice to all the creators “Please pay attention to the story or the script. The characters would fall behind it automatically. Don’t give any predefined prejudice while creating a character because a neutral and unbiased script would be a special product.”. Female emperor penguins that have lost their children kidnaps unattended kids. I felt like this theme had prompted the director to give the title for the flick. But repetitive attempts in the script to tell the story of a penguin go in vain, it does not reach the audience quite well. I go ahead with a rating of 2 out of 5 stars (Ohh, can be discarded) for the story of a mother penguin in an attempt to rescue her child from another penguin.
